    The Village Improvement Group

This group,  which was started many years ago, has a dozen or more members from the village. We are always looking for more members with fresh ideas, though!

Some folk join in for specific events, and others are always there to help. The VIG raises funds for various activities and projects within the Village. It meets every couple of months to plan the next few projects, and is very friendly and informal. We have a Parish Council member in the group and we are a sub-committee of the Parish Council.

Every Christmas the ‘Pump Green’ has our tree set up on it with lovely lights to welcome you to the Christmas festivities. We also organise the planting and care of the flower tubs (about 30 of them) around the village.

Other activities include the BBQ and social event after the fete, the Christmas Carols and Father Christmas visit in December, and of course the Summer fete itself. There are other occasional events such the ‘Har-Fest’ event including the scarecrow competition, wine-tasting evenings, events associated with royal happenings, etc.

If you have any ideas for events, or for fund-raising, please do get in touch by leaving a comment on the home page contact section.

To attend a VIG meeting, talk about joining the VIG, or make suggestions about fund-raising or village events, please contact Trish Martinson on 738888 or David Gutteridge on 07717 170266.

Broughton Church is one of the churches in the Wykeham Benefice.

The monthly Wykeham Benefice News is distributed free to all households in the benefice.
